6 Basic Styling Tips for Round Area Rugs
November 29, 2022Artificial Grass Rug vs. Outdoor Carpet: Which Is Better?
December 13, 2022Whether you’re currently remodeling your bedroom, thinking about doing so in the future, or just looking to spruce up your current design, high-quality rugs can seriously improve the look of your space. Here are three rug designs that will complete any bedroom.
Rugs Under the Bed
The under-the-bed arrangement is the most common placement for bedroom rugs. This is because it allows them to provide a cozy surface for your feet to land first thing in the morning. A rug is particularly important if you have hardwood floors. After all, no one likes stepping onto cold surfaces from the moment they wake up!
Rugs under the bed also visually anchor the largest piece of furniture in the room and make the space feel cohesive. Without a rug, the bed can feel unintentional in its placement, even though it’s naturally the room’s focal point. It serves to tie the bed in with the rest of your décor.
Under-the-bed rugs should be large enough to allow several feet of them to be visible on either side and at the foot of the bed. Another option is to choose a rug that’s big enough for you to place the nightstands on as well. Don’t choose too small of a rug, though, as it can make your space look odd and disproportionate.
Rugs To Designate a Sitting Area
You should designate small sitting areas, office spaces, or reading nooks within your bedroom space with rugs. For a sitting area, the rug should be large enough to encompass the coffee table and the front two feet of the chair. A rug for a desk area should be large enough to place beneath the desk chair and the front legs of your desk.
When creating a small space within a larger space, these rugs help visually signify a different area with a specific purpose. Without grounding them with a rug, small sitting areas like these can feel lost within the larger expanse of your bedroom.
Rugs as a Focal Point
Another rug design that will complete any bedroom is an accent rug. This trend was incredibly popular in the early 2000s but has come back in recent years. Using rugs as an accent or focal point adds visual interest to your bedroom. Accent rugs are usually smaller (around three to six feet across) and feature interesting patterns or bright colors.
They can include sports teams, characters, graphic shapes, or any design from popular media as well. Accent rugs have never really lost their appeal when it comes to children’s bedrooms for this reason, but they can also be great features in adult bedrooms if you go for more mature styles.
